
Removals Porter
Removals work involves the safe and efficient relocation of household or commercial items from one location to another. This can include anything from small flats to large houses or office spaces, and may involve moving furniture, boxes, equipment, and fragile items. Every job is different, requiring a careful approach, good teamwork, and attention to detail to ensure items are packed, handled, and transported safely.
As a Removals Porter, you play a key role in making sure each move runs smoothly. You will work as part of a team alongside established removals companies across London or Edin, supporting all stages of the moving process from packing and loading to unloading and placement at the destination.
What the role involves
- Assisting with packing, wrapping, loading, and unloading vans
- Moving a wide range of items such as sofas, wardrobes, boxes, and office equipment
- Working under the direction of a Foreman on-site
- Ensuring all items are handled safely and in line with health and safety procedures
- Using space efficiently in vehicles and packing materials
- Placing items in the correct rooms or locations at delivery

Working hours
- Shifts typically start between 7:00am – 8:00am
- Most shifts last around 9 hours, though finish times may vary depending on the size and complexity of the move
Location
We currently have removals work available across London and Edinburgh.
Job locations vary day to day and can be spread across all areas of each city and surrounding locations. Because of this, flexibility with travel is essential. Candidates should be comfortable travelling up to 1 hour to reach job sites.
Depending on the assignment, you will either:
- Meet the team at a designated client yard or depot, or
- Go directly to the job site and meet the Foreman on location

This role is suited to individuals who are:
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling work
- Practical with good hands-on ability for lifting, packing, and loading
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
- Good communicators who can follow instructions clearly
- Hardworking, honest, and have a positive “can-do” attitude
A driving licence is beneficial but not essential. However, candidates who hold a valid driving licence will generally be prioritised for more frequent and consistent shifts, depending on operational demand.
